Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Instrumentation

The high-field NMR facility in McGuire Hall features a Bruker Avance III 700 MHz NMR instrument with a Bruker Ultrashield+ magnet operating at a field strength of 16.4 Tesla. It is equipped with 4 RF channels and a Bruker QXI probe with automatic tuning and matching for the observation of protons while simultaneously pulsing/decoupling 13C,15N and 31P in addition to 2H decoupling as well as single axis pulsed field gradients. It is attached to the University's computer network via a Hewlett Packard Linux workstation, which accesses the spectrometer.

In addition, users requiring high-field NMR may also access a Bruker Avance III 600 MHz instrument (by prior management) located in the Department of Chemistry.
