‌Facilities and equipment

The Flow Cytometry Shared Resource Core features a comprehensive suite of instrumentation to facilitate your research needs. These include:

BD FACSCanto™ II Analyzer

The BD FACSCanto™ II located in 4-001 MMRB is equipped with BD FACS carousel loader and 2 lasers (blue: 488 nm, red: 633 nm) allowing the use of up to 7 color simultaneous detection. The BD FACSCANTO II™ analyzer is equipped with a uses FACSDIVA software for acquisition and analysis. DeNovo FCSExpress software is available for remote analysis.

BD FACSAria™ Fusion SORP High-Speed Cell Sorter

Our first cell sorter located in 4-001 MMRB is placed inside a Baker BioProtect Hood for sorting of potentially biohazardous samples. 

This cell sorter is equipped with five lasers (355nm, 405nm, 488nm, 561nm, 640nm) allowing the use of 18 color simultaneous detection. Capabilities include various sort nozzle sizes, four-way sorting and single cell cloning.  It is equipped with the temperature control option for the sort sample and collection vials and the BD Aerosol Management System for sorting of potentially biohazard us samples. The sorter uses FACSDIVA software for acquisition/analysis. DeNovo FCSExpress software is available for remote and offline analysis.  Please contact core personnel with questions or to schedule a sort.

Capabilities include various sort nozzle sizes, four-way sorting and single cell cloning.  It is equipped with the temperature control option for the sort sample and collection vials, and the BD Aerosol Management System for additional containment. The sorter uses FACSDIVA software for acquisition/analysis. DeNovo FCSExpress software is available for remote and offline analysis.  Please contact core personnel with questions or to schedule a sort.

BD LSRFortessa-X20™

The BD LSRFortessa-X20™ flow cytometer located in 4-001 MMRB is equipped with 5 lasers (355nm, 405nm, 488 nm, 561nm, 640 nm) allowing up to 18 color simultaneous detection. The BD LSRFortessa-X20 ™ uses FACSDIVA software for acquisition and analysis. DeNovoFCSExpress software is available for remote analysis.

AmnisImageStreamX Mark II™ 

The AmnisImageStreamX Mark II™ imaging flow cytometer cytometer located in 4-001 MMRB combines the speed, sensitivity, and phenotyping abilities of flow cytometry with the detailed imagery and functional insights of microscopy utilizing the same dyes and markers employed in microscopy and flow cytometry. This unique combination enables a broad range of applications that would be impossible using either technique alone. The AmnisImageStreamXMark II™ produces multiple high resolution images of every cell directly in flow, including brightfield, darkfield (SSC) and is equipped with 4 lasers (405nm, 488nm, 561nm, 642nm) allowing up to 5 color simultaneous detection.

Reichert SR7500DC™ SPR 

The Reichert SR7500DC™ SPR Spectrometer Dual Channel system located in 4-005 MMRB is a powerful two channel surface plasmon resonance instrument. The Reichert SR7500DC™ uses TraceDrawer data analysis software.  The flexible, component-based platform is ideal for analyzing lower molecular weight compounds, and offers high precision in determining kinetics and affinities for a variety of biomolecular interactions, including those between proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, carbohydrates, small molecules, whole cells, bacteria, viruses, and polymers.
