Palliative Care Leadership Center

The Palliative Care Leadership Center (PCLC) initiative is available at eight exemplary sites in the U.S. VCU Massey Cancer Center is one of these sites, designated by the Center to Advance Palliative Care to provide on-site training for clinicians and administrators. Massey is the training site for programs that are interested in oncology. Of note:

  • Massey’s palliative care team wrote three of the eight curricula used by the PCLC centers to teach institutions how to start palliative care programs.
  • The program’s educational reach is international. Palliative care experts from Massey have taught leaders in other nations, including Kenya, Tanzania, Kazakhstan and Portugal.
  • Massey has worked with the Center to Advance Palliative Care to establish a special Veterans Administration curriculum and to provide VA funding to enhance palliative care for veterans.

PCLC training provides attendees the opportunity to meet with palliative care clinicians, program managers and institutional leaders in a series of interactive sessions that follow a comprehensive curriculum. Personnel from more than 140 institutions have learned how to develop and manage palliative care programs from experts at Massey.
