Bradley awarded endowed chair

Cathy J. Bradley, Ph.D.

Cathy J. Bradley, Ph.D., associate director for cancer prevention and control at VCU Massey Cancer Center, has been awarded the Theresa A. Thomas Memorial Foundation Chair in Cancer Prevention and Control in recognition of her exemplary contributions to Massey’s research mission. Bradley also serves as program leader for Massey’s Cancer Prevention and Control research program, founding chair of VCU School of Medicine’s Department of Healthcare Policy and Research and interim chair of VCU’s Department of Social and Behavioral Health. She previously held the RGC Professorship in Cancer Research.

Bradley joined VCU Massey Cancer Center in 2005. She is an expert in health and labor market outcomes and socioeconomic healthcare disparities, and, as one of only a few health economists with an emphasis on the effects of cancer, she has led international research related to cancer and its effect on employment. A hallmark of Massey’s Cancer Prevention and Control research program is its nationally renowned work in understanding and rectifying disparities experienced by underserved minority populations and the medically indigent, many of whom are served by Massey through the VCU Medical Center, the state’s largest safety net provider.

The Theresa A. Thomas Memorial Foundation Chair was established in 2002 and was previously held by Laura A. Siminoff, Ph.D.
